One of the key functions of Limerick Sports Partnership is the role education plays in the promotion and delivery around physical activity and health and wellbeing. Peer mentorship has been proven to be a key element in encouraging and supporting youth participation in physical activity opportunities. To this end, we deliver a suite of youth leadership, mentoring and facilitation opportunities on an annual basis through schools, communities, and the club environment.
These courses vary in duration and content. For example, our Volunteer Inspired Participation (VIP) Youth Leadership Programme is delivered over a school academic year while other opportunities will vary from 6 hours to 22 hours.
These Leaders are supported from an educational and mentoring capacity by the LSP Sports Development Officers in order to implement club and community-based interventions around promoting sport, physical activity and health and wellbeing.
