Strength and Mobility

If we don’t use it, we lose it.

Studies have shown that physical activity is of extreme importance as people age.

  • Strength training enables a person to build muscle and stability and can reduce the incidents of falls or assist a person in getting up after a fall.
  • Exercise can promote weight loss and improve metabolism while also enriching sleep.
  • Balance and flexibility can promote more independence as we get older and help us to carry out regular daily activities.
  • Exercise can also reduce the systems of osteoarthritis, diabetes, osteoporosis, back pain, depression, and anxiety (please ensure if you have any illness or injuries you seek medical clearance before participating in a strength programme.)

The Functional Fitness classes offered through the Limerick Sports Partnership are inclusive and available to males and females of all fitness levels and abilities. If you  require any additional information please contact Tracy on 061333600 or email tmahedy@limericksports.ie
