March 6 @ 7:00 pm - 9:00 pm

“Wake up to Sleep” The role of Sleep in Recovery and Sports Performance – What we know so far! with Giles Warrington, Professor of Human Performance and Innovation Department of Physical Education and Sport Sciences (PESS), UL

Sleep is the single most important behavioural experience we have and plays a number of important biological functions in terms of promoting recovery, enhancing memory function and learning as well as maintaining better mental and physical health. Despite being the most powerful tool in an athlete’s kit bag, the importance of sleep for promoting recovery from training and preparation for competition is often overlooked.

This seminar will explore the roles and functions of sleep and provide an overview the many scientifically proven benefits of sleep with a particular focus on the aspects related sports performance, as well as unpack a simple toolkit to promote better sleep.
