LSP Sports Energy Support Scheme (SESS) 2023

Supporting Community-Owned Sports Facilities in Limerick

INTRODUCTION

 

Sport Ireland have launched a second phase of the Sports Energy Support Scheme.

 

Through Local Sports Partnerships, this phase will now also target community owned sports facilities which do not currently qualify for TBESS or other Government support schemes through DRCD, Local Authorities etc.

 

TERMS AND CONDITIONS OF THE GRANT (PLEASE READ CAREFULLY):

 

WHO CAN APPLY?

Applications from Limerick-based, non-commercial community facilities that have not received funding through any of the following schemes will be considered as part of this phase of the scheme.

  • Sport Energy Support Scheme (SESS) – Phase 1
  • Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme (TBESS)
  • Community Voluntary Sector Energy Support Scheme (CVESS)
  • Other Government Energy Support Schemes through the Department of Rural and Community Development (DRCD), Local Authorities etc.

Please note: If you have received funding as part of any of the above schemes, you will be deemed ineligible for funding as part of this phase of the scheme roll out. It is the responsibility of the applicant to ensure that all information provided as part of this application adheres to scheme guidelines. False information or declarations will be referred to relevant authorities and affect future engagement and scheme eligibility. Clubs or facilities affiliated to Sport Ireland recognised NGBs should access support directly through their NGB.

 

ADDITIONAL CRITERIA:

  •  The Sports Energy Support Scheme (SESS) will contribute to the increased energy costs associated with providing sporting activity only.
  • The Eligibility period will relate to increased costs sustained between September 1st 2022 and May 31st 2023.*
  • Non Energy related increases are ineligible. These include increased costs in accommodation, rent, rates or labour costs.
  • Fuel costs associated with machinery, vehicles, travel or transport do not qualify.
  • Pre-existing debts or deficits do not qualify.
  • Energy costs associated with non-sporting activity such as bars, restaurants etc. are not eligible under SESS; however, such trading activity may be eligible for support under the Government’s Temporary Business Energy Support Scheme (TBESS).
  • Organisations applying for support must own/lease the sporting facilities or be the primary utility bill payer.

 

THE SCHEME WILL NOT COVER:

  • Private/Commercial gyms, pools & sports facilities (These are eligible to apply for TBESS)
  • Local authority facilities
  • School or Third level sports facilities

 

WHEN DO APPLICATIONS CLOSE:

The Closing Date for Receipt of Applications is: 20/10/2023. No late applications will be accepted or considered.

 

HOW TO APPLY:

Please read the above eligibility criteria to ensure your organisation / facility is eligible to apply.

Applications are being accepted through a on-line application form. The form can be accessed by the button marked ‘APPLY FOR GRANT’ below.

The online form must be filled out in one attempt, there is no facility to save the form and return to it later. All questions included are listed below so applicants should have all information ready and at hand prior to completing the application form.

 

You will be required to provide the following:

  • Name of Community Owned Sports Facility
  • Address of Facility
  • Your Name
  • Phone Number
  • E-Mail Address
  • Your Position within the facility
  • (Energy Costs from Sept 2019 – May 2020 OR Energy Costs from Sept 2021 – May 2022)*
  • Energy Cost from Sept 2022 – May 2023*
  • Total Increase between two periods

*You will also be asked to upload proof of expenditure. Please have documents containing copies of your bills ready to upload.

 

SELECTION CRITERIA & APPROVAL:

All applications will be evaluated by Limerick Sports Partnership to determine if they meet the eligibility requirements of this grant programme.

Applications will be reviewed on the merit of the information and documentation provided in the application submitted. Every effort will be made to provide required funding to eligible organisations.

In the event that the scheme is oversubscribed, funding amounts offered to successful applicants may be reduced in line with funding available.

No canvassing rules apply. Canvassing will result in disqualification from the scheme.
