Most sports clubs in Limerick are run exclusively by volunteers, many with little or no training in the day to day running of the club. This programme aims to supports clubs in achieving the best possible Governance and Coaching Structures while ensuring there is a care centred approach to all club members. While Physical activity will remain at the forefront of this programme, the LSP will work with the selected club in striving for excellence in all areas through the CAP programme.
This programme is all about trying to build resilience in young people and educating parents, leaders and coaches to be more aware of and responsive to their needs by allowing them to speak openly and freely about issues facing them as teenagers daily. Ireland has one of the highest rates of Suicide in the western world. Drug and Alcohol abuse and misuse are a major contributing factor, and it is only through talk and education that we can begin to tackle this problem.
CAP facilitates the whole club to have their voices heard and shows them that there are alternative ways to feel better.
